Threads of Hope

Behind every breast cancer ribbon are thousands of women with high-risk disease who won’t have a survival story to tell. But in a sea of pink, they are hard for oncologists see. So we deconstructed the concept of the pink ribbon down to threads, to show oncologists the risk hidden in plain sight.

In partnership with renowned fiber artist Eric Rieger

We created a mesmerizing data visualization of breast cancer incidents rates in the US in 2022. In the outer rings, we used 3 different hues of pink to recognize women living with early breast cancer (EBC), HR+ HER2- EBC, and high-risk HR+ HER2- EBC.

Toward the center, we used 2 hues of blue to represent those with HR+, HER2- high-risk EBC with a specific risk factor of Ki-67 score ≥20% and those who’s HR + HER2- disease has reached a tipping point and become metastatic.
